In my last video I looked at Dr. Greger’s recommendation to add nuts to lower LDL cholesterol.
Today’s follow-up asks the question almost nobody seems to be asking:
Won’t you gain weight?
To answer this, I looked at many of the studies used in the meta-analysis Dr. Greger relied on.
And guess what?
Many were designed to control calories, substitute foods, or monitor weight — precisely because weight gain can affect the results.
But what happens when people actually add nuts?
In one study where people added nuts without substituting other calories, they gained about 2.5 pounds in 8 weeks.
How much weight would they gain over a year?
No one has done that study.
