Ingredients for filling
• 8 peeled and cubed granny smith apples
• 1/2 cup brown sugar
• 1/4 cup all purpose flour
• 1 tsp ground cinnamon
• 1/4 tsp salt
• 1 tbs lemon juice
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 1/2 tsp almond extract
Ingredients for topping
• 1 cup flour
• 1.5 cups rolled oats
• 1 cup coconut sugar (or brown sugar or maple sugar)
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• 1 cup apple sauce
• 1/2 cup maple syrup
Instructions
• Preheat oven to 35o degrees F.
• Peel and cube the apples. In a mixing bowl, add the apples, sugar, flour, spices, lemon, and extracts. Mix together.
• Use a silicon baking dish 9 x 13 and add mixture.
• For the topping, in a mixing bowl, add the flour, rolled oats, sugar, cinnamon. Stir well. Add the apple sauce and maple and stir well.
• Add the topping over the apples evenly across the top.
• Bake in oven for 50 minutes. The top should be golden brown.
• Let cool for 10 minutes.
• Optional: add more cinnamon to top.
• Note: Serve with banana ice cream on top.
