There’s a lot of talk going around right now — YouTube videos warning that vegans aren’t getting enough protein. Some influencers are calling it a “deficiency crisis.”

The problem?
The science doesn’t back the panic.

A recent study of nearly 200 long-term vegans found that while some didn’t hit certain amino acid targets on paper, here’s what really matters:

No one was sick.

No muscle loss. No frailty.

Healthy vegans with better BMIs than the general public.

Stanford nutrition scientist Dr. Christopher Gardner put it simply:

“Should we all be worrying about getting enough protein? No.”

“If you’ve eaten enough calories for the day, you’ve got enough protein. Stop obsessing.”

Meanwhile, the real longevity research — from experts like Dr. Valter Longo — suggests that lower protein intake may actually support a longer, healthier life.

So why the alarm?
Because fear sells. Protein powders sell.
But no one makes money telling you to eat your beans and move your body.
