I haven't read the Lion Heart Study in quite some time so l might be mistaken. In a few months l will be revisiting the subject of fat again for my book,so it will be a good chance to review much of the literature.

That is true in theory, but let me give you something important to think about. About half of all studies showing supplementation of fish oil apparently show no health benefits from the supposed EPA/DHA. Why? The researchers strongly suggest that the oxidisation (a break down into potentially harmful lipid peroxides) of the oils negates the health effect from these oils, not always, but often enough.

So...what does this mean for a fish eater like yourself? Well, according to the various fish studies it means that the safest fish to consume for most of the population is canned sardines that are canned on site that day if possible. Why sardines? 1).Because they are far higher in the food chain and have accumulated less heavy metals. 2). Because if the sardines are canned and cealed they will be less prone to lipid peroxidisation, this means the EPA/DHA will be at higher levels without the oxidation that would occur at markets selling 1 - 2 day old fish.

Sorry to have to bring up the subject of meat everyone, but this serious issue on the downside of fish and fish oils needed to be addressed.
