Hey Gosia,

Hope you're well.

Enjoyed your post, i was wondering your opinion after reading it.

My main concern has always been: is eating close to raw or all raw as you describe, a sustainble diet in the long term ?

Im sure you said that you ran into B12 deficiency last time round on a strict vegan diet, as did one of your friends on 30BAD raw vegan style diet ?

For a diet to be healthy, it has to be nutritionally complete in order to be sustainable long term.

Which lets face it, no vegan diet is nutritionally complete without a number of supplements "papering" over the cracks" and even then it still doesn't work for most.

Nutrients of concern when eating strict plant based according to research can include vitamin b12, vitamin D, zinc, calcium, iron, iodine(sea vegetables are a great vegan source), sulfur-bonded amino acids such as taurine and methionine, conditionally essential amino acids such as carnitine, pre-formed omega-3 fatty acids such as DHA and so on.

The future has to be the promotion of majority plant based diets, but diets that are both nutritionally balanced and complete.

Diets that do not require any supplements to supply basic essential vitamins and minerals that any healthy and varied diet should provide naturally.

That from my research does not appear to be strict raw vegan diets. At present with all the scientific evidence it would be correct to say that strict raw vegan diets are not only unsustainable but potentially dangerous and deficient ways of eating.
