i'd hate to see this get buried in Jeff's sticky. this is a
continuation of the tread started by BJ. i'll be adding a
post at the end of that thread, providing a link to this post
so whoever finds that thread can find his/her way here too.

BJ's original post is at:-

my comments below...

i don't know if diet is the number 1 factor in health. what i
do know is diet is not the only factor. hence, with all other
factors remain equal, a change in diet will result in a
change in health, regardless of genetics. i believe even
"people with great genetics" will see negative effects when
they compromise their diets. just that their compromised
results are still way better than what we mere mortals get.
us mere mortals want to believe that we can just eat like
them and thus be able to do what they do. it's human nature
to fantasize.

yes, there are superathletes out there on junk food. can't
deny that. what i often wonder is - what if they were on
fresh raw fruits and vegetables. imagine that.

i'm not built to run a sub 30 minutes 10k or swim a sub
minute 100m and i'm ok with that. i just know on this diet, i
am the best i can be and i can't be like this if i were to
eat any other way. this is all that matters.
