I was eating plenty fat as a vegan TSM, i was eating good amounts of nuts, seeds, coconut/oil and other healthy oils such as olive oil on occasion. I was also including unrefined trace element rich salts such as himalayan in my diet.

It wasn't enough though and i didn't feel any better in my chronic health problems from eating strict vegan. The lack of dietary cholesterol probably didn't do my adrenal fatigue/chronic fatigue problems any favors either.

I could have continued on as a vegan most likely along with the supplements such as B12, zinc etc that i was taking and keeping me "maintained". After all i had lasted years longer as a strict vegan than many of my peers around me. That being said my health problems relating to copper/zinc imbalances were getting worse, so it was sensible time for me to abandon a strict vegan diet. Despite supplementing with sublingual B12, my B12 and iron levels were lowering as the years went on as a vegan. Not to mention i had developed severe vitamin D deficiency for the first time in my life.

Since then, i have managed to just about reverse the copper/zinc imbalances that a vegan diet exacerbated for me and get my health back on track.

I will also say that low carb diets have been something ive never tolerated well and i know that i don't do well on such low level of carbohydrates, especially as an active individual. My experiences with severely low carb diets left me with low energy and very depressed, when i experimented with them.

At the same time, ive also experienced the devastating health effects that can result from eating a diet excessively rich in sugars. Which nearly ruined my metabolic health completely.

I still consume all the same foods i was eating as a vegan anyway, fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, sea vegetables, healthy oils, spices, teas, fresh herbs and even sprouts when i manage.

These foods make up the majority of my diet, i will never have the urge to experiment with strict veganism again, because i don't believe its a healthy thing to do or possible for most individuals.

Plus high plant based eating is more than enough to get all the benefits that these wonderful plant foods like i say. I don't believe there is any prize for going that bit stricter at 100% plant based, because it just comes with too high level of risk and nutrient deficiencies.

Is Mr Kearns using a wholefood sourced Vitamin C ?. Synthetic ascorbic acid isn't so great and in fact can break down to oxalic acid. Amla berry and acerola cherry are great wholefood sources of Vitamin C, if one wishes to supplement with extra Vitamin C for whatever reason.
