Doug is adamant that fasters rest completely during the fasting phase.
Movement/exercise begins during the recovery phase.

During my "recovery" phase I was unable to tolerate more than one sip
of lemon water at a time. I was continuously thirsty, my mouth very
dry, so I kept my water bottle close at all times.

During the first exercise class I attended with Doug he instructed me
to not keep the water bottle nearby and to instead place it on a table a
few feet away. Due to the exercise I became more thirsty than usual
and kept walking over to the bottle for my sip of lemon water. He
became increasingly irritated by this and told me in front of the class
not to drink any more until the class ended.

Ordinarily I would have stood up to someone speaking to me like that,
but in my vulnerable dehydrated state (the survival mode Irene
describes in her testimony) I just felt chastised and humiliated.

Needless to say I never returned to the exercise class, instead
managing my own movement activities with short walks and swims in
the pool.

I completely back up what Irene described. No learning, no growth,
no changes five years after my fast with Doug….the same horrific
scenarios.
