Subject:         WFF 2014 a failure in many ways
Date: September 2, 2014 at 9:11 pm PST

In previous years the Woodstock Fruit festival has produced at
least some mainstream media coverage for the fruitarian
community. Michael Arnstein on CNN is an example. Not so this
year. A search of Google News for 'Woodstock Fruit festival'
yields only the satirical parody about vegetables holding a
festival. This aspect of the WFF was a failure when compared to
previous years.

The festival has produced a lot of youtube videos, in which
nearly everyone shown is trying to get you to watch their
channel or buy their book, app, or other items. This
constitutes cheap and tacky over-commercialization, in my

I call on the WFF to release attendance figures as the WFF
website still says "Join 600+ attendees". I guess they are
counting people who were there for 2 weeks, twice. The scandals
surrounding Graham, plus the exclusion of Harley, caused many
people to skip the festival this year.

Word is that that there will be a 1-week festival in Hawaii in
April, plus a 1 week festival in New York, later in the year
2015. The Hawaii festival will not have an education component,
which hopefully means no gurus. Ideally, the New York festival
should also be a no-gurus-allowed festival. But if Arnstein
insists on having so-called pioneers, he should exclude Graham
and his associates, as some people will boycott the festival
and encourage others to boycott, if Graham is paid to attend.

One positive point: videos for previous years showed that the
festival had a very strong "hippie vibe". That seems reduced
this year, and that is good as the hippie vibe is a huge turn-
off for the mainstream. If you want a hippie vibe, go to
Burning Man instead.
