Firstly not taking the above issues into account, adrenal insufficiency or adrenal fatigue/burnout is not a condition one fasts themselves out of.

Adrenal fatigue is often caused by severe nutritional deficiencies, autonomic nervous system imbalances i.e over-use of the sympathetic "fight or flight" nervous system, toxic metal imbalances such as those involving copper and zinc are some of the most common reasons.

Like i said fasting places a massive stress on a healthy individual let alone someone in a disordered state such as with adrenal fatigue, who often have poor blood sugar regulation due to low cortisol. Those with severe adrenal insufficiency are often so bed ridden that they can barely walk, let alone undertake a prolonged water only fast. These individuals would not have the stress tolerance to safely undertake a fast in my opinion and most will just find they crash or are even worse. They will just over-use there sympathetic nervous system to keep blood sugar levels balanced in absence of food.

Its very dangerous advice, im hesitant to write more on this topic as my posts often just get deleted around here, which is a shame, if one truly did care about others health they'd be willing to have a transparent conversation about these topics.

Im curious as to Dougs response on this issue though and hopefully these posts don't just get deleted like last time. Like i say adrenal fatigue is not a condition one can just fast themselves out of.

If one is over using there sympathetic branch of there nervous system i.e the fight or flight stress response which is very common in those with adrenal fatigue. These people are constantly running on their "last nerves" so to speak, eventually the adrenal glands cannot keep up with the constant sympathetic demand for adrenal hormones such as cortisol, epinephrine(adrenaline), DHEA etc and levels of these critical hormones lower. Meditation and deep breathing exercises can be very helpful to shut off the stress response and aid autonomic nervous system balance.
