I just wanted to share how I did it, it may help somebody else out there. I first tackled the nicotine part and gradually switched to lower and lower nicotine mg. cigs., until I was smoking virtually air! After a month of this, Then I tackled the physical habit of having something in my hands when I was on the phone, in the car and a few other very hard times. I took up many hand crafting hobbies and slowly replaced my very low nicotine cigs with something else. I didn't feel the nicotine withdrawals when I did this because I had already withdrawn weeks before. It was not easy this was the eighth time I had tried to quit. I reached out to every support group available and asked for help. The American Lung asscoc. had a 24hr 1-800 number with a positive message and i would call whenever I wanted a cig. A couple of things that helped me alot was remembering that the average cig craving last only about 3 minutes and then passes, also there was a list from the Amer. Lung. Assoc. that showed the amount of time passing and what bodily system was recovering, ie... Heart rated and blood pressure decrease and return to normal after so many hours, etc. That's it please feel free to email me for support, I know what it is like to be there. Lisa :)
