Here is my comment: LDS people (as I am one) are hypocrites, I guess as people of most religions are. They practice "religious" smorgasbord: they take what they want and leave the rest. Your friend is wrong: no modern profit has EVER said that eating meat was ok. God has spoken (if you believe that) the point is, people want to make excuses, I have a very hard time not eating meat, LDS people eat it, only because everyone else does. That bs about WHY is a crock of crap and now that it is "different" then you would think God would clarify. When people bring up those types of excuses (and I have heard many) I state, "that makes sense...see God really didn't mean not to have premarital sex, see back then they didn't have condoms and birth control, so its different now." See...it ridiculous...LDS people just want to look down at others, strain and a nat and swallow a camel. The D&C doesn't say coffee, it says hot drinks, but LDS people drink a ton of hot drinks, D&C says alcohol is not good, but by God no LDS person would dare take a sip to get down that side of beef! So even if it does say "sparingly" I have NEVER IN MY LIFE met any group of people that eat more meet than LDS people--ever. My bishop was doing Atkins, Give me an f-n break!
