I have been following The Starch Solution for two weeks, after many years
of off and on. I know it's the right way. I can't find a doctor in my
area to ask (just my regular GP), and before I go to a cardiologist
appointment in October, I wanted to check in here.
About three years ago, after a severe bout of vertigo and three days in
the hospital, I was diagnosed with TIA. The only side effects were
weakness and exhaustion.
I have been pretty much ok for the past years, but recently, when I had a
bad spell of weakness and nausea, I checked my BP: 200/102. The ER
found nothing and sent me home after IV fluids. Careful attention to diet
has me back at about 121/67.
I had another bad incident recently when I went to my volunteer post at a
therapeutic riding center. I couldn't walk my horse half way around the ring,
had to hand him off to the instructor. I was so weak and winded that I barely
made it out of the ring, and had to lie down on the mounting block for
several minutes before I could safely walk.
My GP found nothing significant, and I have the cardiologist appointment
upcoming. I very much want to avoid surgery.
I am now 100 percent on a no-fat vegan diet, and other than blood
pressure improvement, I see no change. I'm still exhausted - had to sit
down to fix a vegan soup for dinner.
There seem to be no doctors in my area who support these methods.
Have you any suggestions at all? I could perhaps stay with my daughter,
who lives outside of Chicago, if absolutely necessary, to find a doctor, but I
really want to start living without fear again.
