There has been quite a bit of research in this area since I accepted the conclusions that led to the 15 minute aerobic standard.

It had originally been believed that anything less than an hour would not yield aerobic benefits, then it was a half-hour, then 20 minutes. I was happy when Cooper and others reported that four 15 minute sessions would give the same benefits as a single hour.

Much of what we thought was correct a few years ago has been replaced with newer information.

I still feel better when I walk for an hour, rather than multi-shorter sessions.

Exercise should be as enjoyable as you can make it. If breaking it into easier periods makes it more comfortable, it's more likely that it won't be quickly abandoned.
