You say that the "important thing is the ratio". When you think about this statement, you will see that it doesn't make sense. If it were, then would the reverse logic be true? Say I had a really high total cholesterol 350 mg/dl, but say my HDL was also high - 80. Would that be ok?

All I am asking for is reference to solidly support the statement that low-HDL isn't a concern in people whose total cholesterol is below 150 mg/dl. I can't find any. ZERO direct studies to support this. The study Dr. Pinckney referred me to supported that the notion that HDL may not be as protective when looking at Caucasians who have low-HDL due to genetic reasons. I think that applying this to vegans who have low-HDL is a bit of a stretch.
