It doesn't matter what method one uses to get aerobic exercise, as long as it's regular and it raises the heart-rate.

Walking, swimming and bicycling are excellent ways, but step machines, bike machines, treadmills and the like are also good.

An ideal target is 45 minutes a day, at least six days a week, It can be in increments of at least 15 minutes each, but a full single session is optimal.

But anything, no matter how brief, is better than nothing.
