I had a lot of the same problem with struggling to eat meat when I first became a vegetarian. I have to say that ridgrunner had an excellent idea about reading a book on the treatment of our animals. The one thing that I did to help me get over the hump was to think about what kind of animal it was and visualize it on your plate. If you take the part of the meat, like the chicken breast and imagine on a live chicken maybe that will help you.
You only have to get over the cravings and then it will all change for you. Then the thought of eating it will be disgusting not tempting.
