As far as Christian / New Age is concerned, you might want to read "The Gospel of The Holy Twelve" by Rev. SG Ouseley, where you learn for ex. that the merchants that Christ chased from the Temple were sheep, birds and ox sellers, that the vessels he forbade to be carried around were blood vessels, all "details" that have been meticulously erased from the official Bible. You also learn that he was of course a strict vegetarian and forbade to eat meat, like his forerunners the Essenians, like Noah who lived up to 600 years(!), and there are about 40 occurences of his defending all sorts of animals from ill-treatment or death. Indeeed that was the very pretext for his seizure by the priests. This book is available at Amazon among others and it's really worth it. There are others apocryphs that have not been included in the canonical texts, emphasizing the utmost importance of respect for all life and vegetarism, i.e. "The Gospel of Peace of Jesus Christ". Nice Chrismas gifts ideas, aren't they?
How wonderful and amazing that Christians and Jews as well find the way to the truth in their hearts by themselves, although they have been deprived of these texts for so long!
So, don't worry about your "peers", they just don't know, that's all. And you are becoming peers with some typical "New Age" figures like Leonardo da Vinci, Einstein... is an excellent site that I discovered from the link below among the answers to Rebecca's similar post to yours: where you learn for ex. that we never possessed any of the original gospels, but only retranscriptions, translations of those, which have taken 3 to 4 centuries to make, often are incomplete and have lost their original meaning.
Hope this helps!
