Going back to Durianrider's observation that it's hard to recover after water fasting...what damage did Ghandi do to his body that he felt he must use dairy products? I am not arguing with Gandhi's conclusions, but wondering how he messed up his body.

Nowadays, we have amazing raw vegan protein powders. Hemp protein is highly absorbable. Times have changed since Ghandi was around. Many compassionate saints have said since humans are so intelligent, why do they have to rely on violent acts to feed themselves?

Look at how many MALE indian yogis have breasts because of the estrogen they consume via dairy products. Estrogen is not good for men, especially when they are trying to reverse andropause. How many Indians or indian food-eaters I have been around who are so plugged up from eating dairy? So many. T Colin Campbell looked at casein as a cancer promoter.

Ghandi cared about ahimsa. My friend saw Ghandi in heaven and yes, he was vegan...and also helped my friend to understand the importance of ahimsa and how he was brutalizing his bees and dairy cows in his farm. My friend experienced this during a near death experience and came back to life after he flatlined. (His name is Tom Rodgers and he was suffering from cancer plus a breast tumor from so much dairy).

No caring person wants any human to be nutritionally deficient. Hence, the reasoning behind Ghandi's words. But please do not think that Ghandi did not care about ahimsa.
