Now i know you are on the wind up Paul.

The reason why diets like 80/10/10 are put under the microscope is because they are radical and extreme ways of eating, which lead to so many individuals to becoming ill. You speak of 30 banana's a day sucks forum, if you were a regular reader over there you will have seen anecdotally that this diet works for under 5% of people, if that and none of the supposed raw gurus.

You are right anyone with a sprout of common sense knows that these diets are so far removed from the norm that they are most probably unhealthy to follow. Anyone with a margin of common sense don't need 100 reliable studies showing them the common vegan nutritional deficiencies because they know eating 30 banana's, binging on medjool dates, a massive bowl of romaine lettuce and 4 almonds isn't what constituents as a healthy diet. And if they don't already know, they most likely will after they fail to eat in such way for a single day. The hardcore ones who do manage to stick to 80/10/10 in the short term are the ones we hear about who end up developing B12/nutritional deficiencies and become completely emaciated.

This is what happens when you remove so many food groups from your diet. It simply isn't just as easy as Doug Graham made out "eat your fruit and vegetables", don't care about micro-managing nutrition or specific nutrients. Micro-managing nutrition can be avoided when you eat a wide variety of foods and are probably covering most bases. But when your eating mostly just fruit and some salad greens daily, well that's a completely different story, micro-managing nutrition becomes essential unless you want to get ill. The sproutarian man will tell you that better than anyone.

Raw vegan diets such as 80/10/10 or fruitarian don't render anywhere near a nutritionally balanced or complete diet. As such people end up in hospital, admitted to ER with severe nutritional deficiencies and malnutrition that is reminiscent of individuals in third world countries. Did you not see the hallmark study of a raw vegan who managed to develop ketoacidosis outwith starvation. Raw vegans certainly are setting the barrier of excellence.

Shoved under the bus ? Come on Paul, Kristina even at the first WFF festival was worryingly emaciated in appearance. We are not talking thin or someone being slightly underweight here, but completely EMACIATED. This was supposedly Kristina 4-5 years into a strict raw vegan 80/10/10 diet at the time yet she is wasting away, lost all muscle mass and like i say was completely emaciated, hair was matted/dry possibly from lack of omega-3 fatty acids, iodine deficiency and/or low thyroid function. If you think being emaciated like many raw vegan 80/10/10ers typically became trying this diet, then you are so far removed from knowing what is healthy and what isn't.

Makes you wonder why 4 years supposedly into the 80/10/10 diet she couldn't even maintain her weight or the little muscle mass she had, yet now looks like she is sitting at a very healthy weight and appearance. Couldn't possibly be including other foods in her diet that shes not letting on ?

Then again it was only 3 weeks ago everyone was holding up Mike Arstein as a shining example of eating raw vegan. What about Mike Arnstein everyone said, then we are told he regularly eats sushi, other cooked foods and hasn't stuck to a raw vegan diet for more than a few months at a time according to durianrider. Same with most raw vegans, i actually remember a video from Dan The Man where he put up his anniversary raw video, but only a few weeks before was on about in another video that he was ravaging on baked potatoes and other cooked food recently lol.

I watched Mike Arnstein's video where he is interviewed by Megan Elizabeth about the durianrider situation. In the video he basically admitted that he struggles following the diet strictly and could empathize with DR eating cooked. The problem is none of you guys are eating as strict raw vegan as you pretend to be.

The next wave of newbies get fooled time and time again by these diets.
