This is a tough question. Everyone knows about ginger, which is why Lou Corona puts it in his juice everyday. Cardamon, tangerine peel, clove, fennel are some others that are not hard for westerners to get. Fresh raw hot pepper is actually good for ulcers, ironically The Chinese have digestive formulas based on symptoms: burping, nausea, food stagnation, loose stools, undigested food in stools, low appetite, excessive appetite, etc. Also some people have dryness in their bodies, while others have dampness. So there is not one formula for everyone. The classic xiang sha liu jun zi tang formula is great for low appetite and nausea related to weak digestion. My tips would only be helpful if you had a china town nearby. Ayurveda has keen insight on digestive herbs for legumes. If you look into how the Indians prepare their bean soup, called Dahl, there is asafoetida, cumin, ginger, tumeric, etc. All their spices help gas and poor digestion. personally, I never experience gas when I eat vegan Indian dahl soup, because of those spices. So, the Indians figured it out centuries or thousands of years ago what herbs go with beans. I think if a raw vegan were to eat raw sprouted beans regularly, using an Indian blend would be helpful. Yikes there are whole books on this topic. I was mainly referring to Paul's skepticism about using "products". My final point is that humans are tool users. To deny our tools is to deny our humanness, in my opinion
