I grew up with the old style accepted raw food model which was basically fruit, raw vegies and nuts as well as dried fruits or a combination of any of those. Raw vegies was basically carrots, cabbage, beetroot, celery, tomatoes. There was no mention of the importance of leafy greens, and there was no such thing as kale, and as a result the rate of success was very low. That's why I think people have a better chance of succeeding nowadays and there are more people doing well.

For me reading about leafy greens was very important, not hearing it from David Wolfe, but the fact he presented his arguments well as to why people were failing on fruit or raw diets in general explained a lot of the reasons why I saw so many people trying and having disastrous results.

I have also added salt, dulse, cooked food and whatever else I need to eat healthy and I feel so much better for it. I limit my fruit intake these days.
