What care could he possibly give? He gives water and lets the body do the work regardless of symptoms. Thats what a hygienic fast is, you fast until you either fix the problem or have a healing crisis that you have to just suck it up and go through. A medical fast would stop before a healing crisis. She should have done her research. People should research fasting for years before attempting an extended fast or at least do some BASIC info like how far is a hospital, do they do bloodwork and ask if they end the fast if there are complications. She said in her video that she knew she was having serious issues, was quiet about it and told herself to just stick through it. What level of care did she expect? A bloodwork lab? life support equipment? In the middle of the jungle with a guy who is openly against medical intervention, who openly says the body does the healing? Yes he could have came into the room, hold her hand and tell her she would be ok. But what would that do? Thats all he could do. Yes he could have ended the fast early, but thats not what people conducting extended hygiencic fasts do. Yes he could have and should have been explicit up front that he does not do bloodwork and that there is no hospital anywhere close. But just by traveling there she knew she was in the middle of knowhere and they obviously didn't draw any blood when she got there soooooo......she KNEW!! They where both in the wrong in my opinion, My point is people need to do LOTS of research before doing anything drastic to their bodys and take it slow and not just listen to friends, family, doctors, lawyers, raw food communities or ANYONE but themselfs and take full responsibility based on their own research and decisions made based on their own research. She could have asked questions before the fast, she could have looked online to consider risks and dangers. It is easy to find info on past deaths of fasters at his and others centers. She could have looked into different centers and compare what they do there. Has she really never heard of true north and medical fasting? You would really have to do NO research to NOT know about it. She said in her video she listened to other peoples positive experiences, did not think for a second anything could go wrong and did NOT do ANY research. Isn't it a very basic thing to weigh the pros and cons? Wouldn't starving yourself in a third world country be an appropriate time to weigh pros and cons? She researched David Kleins book to heal her intestinal disorder and that has to do with just changing your diet. Why didn't she do any research involving not eating anything for almost a month?? Even a child would ask if they would die if you told them we are gonna stop feeding you for a few weeks. How would she know the level of care? I agree she would not know the extreme of the lack of care provided. But she would of known the basics, bloodtest and hospital. She let people tell her what to do and tell her when she should eat and not eat and not listen to her body and intuition. Sounds harsh but thats life, you either let people dictate what you do or you do your own research and use your own head. And like I said to clearify they are BOTH to blame in my opinion, I don't mean to be picking on LEAH but this is more of a message to people reading that may be interested in fasting or anything health related. DO YOUR REASEARCH AND MAKE SLOW CHANGES!!! DONT LET ANYONE TELL YOU WHAT TO DO!!!
