You write:
"We talk about the health of the body all the time on forums, but we never talk about mastery of the mind and being at one with our spirit (our true selves via enlightenment). "

Me: People don't talk about enlightenment on food forums because the two don't mix.
Anyone who is extremely attached to their diet, to their favorite foods is resisting enlightenment.

For me, proper diet and natural healing relates to the healthy ecosystem of earth and its inhabitants (animals and plant life and all sentient beings). That is my job and what I do on a mundane level. But true enlightenment transcends this plane.

Why did the Buddha make his disciples beg for food? It was to force them to give up their attachments to everything, including food.

Jesus turned water into wine and fed the masses by multiplying food. Food itself cannot lead to enlightenment. Jesus was enlightened first.

When i stumbled once on my journey, I was reminded, because I do care about enlightenment. I went to the refrigerator and grabbed for my Goqi berrry juice. I had just bought it and it cost me $30 US. It was almost empty. I was so mad because I had only gotten a few drinks. SOmeone else drank my juice. I was seething. I was greedy. I was focused on my body and what this special goqi juice could do for my body. I wanted those benefits. I was well-planted into the heirarchy of the haves and have-nots. I wanted to be a part of the "haves". WANTED. GREED. SELFISH. ME ME ME ME ME. When I apprehended the suspected culprit and went back to the refrigerator, I grabbed the goqi juice bottle to show him and it was full again. The juice was back in the bottle. He said he didn't drink it and the juice was there. That was a gift from my teacher. TO show me my heart and how it had dropped down.

Enlightenment is there for the poorest person with breadcrumbs to eat. Enlightenment is there for a prisoner locked in jail with nasty food to eat. Enlightenment is there for a sprout farmer. Enlightenment is there even for a meat eater. The keys of enlightenment are in the mind and heart not in food.
