I have been raw vegan for just over two months now, and have been doing
811rv for the last 6 weeks at least. I went from 170lbs to 160lbs on highfat RV,
and 160lbs to my current weight of 145lbs on 811. I am very happy about this
becuase I am a long distance runner and feel my strength to weight ratio is
much better. I actually will probably loose another 7-10lbs before I try to level
off. I really don't struggle with hunger or cravings, at least no where near when I
used to cut calories intentionally on S.A.D.

I recently participated in a 24 hour race. Most endurance athletes consume
about 200-300 cal per hour of mostly heavily processed carbs during these type
of events. I started the race doing an 811 version of this concept. After about 30
miles I bonked. So I started to eat as much fruit, tomatoes and celery as I could.
About every hour I ate as much of one type that I wanted. This was possible
becuase unlike most "ultras" this on was a small loop, so I had consistant access
to my many pounds of food and water. So I got thru the race with no digestion
issues at all, I obviously used the porta john alot, but I always have in these
races- the difference was no discomfort.
None of my upcoming races are going to be quite as easy as far as food goes.

Yesterday I tried a banana date pinapple smoothie before my run and for the
first time on 811 my stomach hurt and cramped. Whole fruit does not affect me
this way though.

I guess I am figuring it out, but I was hoping the smoothie in a running bottle
would be a helpful option between aid stations that I may or may not have a
stash at. But once again whole fruit is safest for me but too heavy to carry.

I know there is that guy, whos name I can't remember, who runs sub 3 hour
marathons on 811rv. Running that fast he can't be carrying anything, much less
stopping very often. On one of his many youtube videos he was talking about
dried bananas, however that makes no sense to me becuase that means you
have to carry more water. Obviously the water and mineral content of raw 811
foods prevent dehydration and hyponatremia!

In the next couple of weeks I have a 50k, 26.2m, and a 100 mile race in febuary.
So any advice would be great!!!
