When you see something you want to eat late at night, pick up a book. Think, banana = book. Go read a chapter of a book, then see if you still want the food. If you still want it, tell yourself that the food isn't going anywhere and it will still be there in the morning, and one banana will suffice. Also tell yourself that 1 banana is enough because "A", they are all the same bananas and you only need a sampling of the taste, and "B", this is only something to hold you over until your next real meal, and not a meal unto itself. You can also try setting the precedent of all meals are preceded by physical activity, thus, another reason to not eat a full meal and just have a small snack, since you are not being physically active and earning the meal.
