Heat, (which is what we were talking about):
do u or do u not agree though that:
1.) it raises your heartbeat/rate thus has a pretty good cardio
effect to one?
No.
2.) it makes one more limber and flexible
No.
3.) it strengthens & lengthens muscles
No.
4.) overall series of postures done in heat is a unique workout
compared to other workouts
No.
5.) replaces a chiropractor adjustment 10fold
Not at all. No.

If, by "it,) you mean Bikram,

do u or do u not agree though that:
1.) it raises your heartbeat/rate thus has a pretty good cardio
effect to one?
No.
2.) it makes one more limber and flexible
That depends upon your level of limberness and flexibility
beforehand.
3.) it strengthens & lengthens muscles
No, I do not believe that Bikram is a particularly good method for
strengthening muscles. Muscular endurance is challenged a bit, but
not muscular strength, no.
No, muscles do not lengthen, in terms of flexibility. They shorten
and return to normal size during and after muscular contractions,
and can be slightly stretched during stretching exercises, but they
do not lengthen permanently, or even for an hour or two, as a
result of those exercises.
4.) overall series of postures done in heat is a unique workout
compared to other workouts.
I personally have not found the heat, nor the poses, to be
particularly unique, no. Is Bikram unique unto itself? Sure.
Essentially all exercises are, wouldn't you say?

Heidi, you do not have to defend Bikram to me. I don't care for it
personally, and don't tend to think of it as yoga, either, but that is
me. If you love it, as I have told you many times, more power to
you, enjoy. I just find that when you give credit to Bikram for things
that I know are physiologically unjustified, I have to say something,
at least here, on my board. I don't care if you say that stuff
somewhere else, but we have a lot of beginners here, with enough
unlearning to do about food, and I prefer that they not have to
unlearn physiology and fitness, too.
