Dear all, We finally decided to put Michael to primary school next September. Intellectually, he's ready but he's emotionally and affectively delayed and his maturity is behind. We thought it was better to put him in 1st grade, with all his friends and hopefully a good teacher and give him a chance to get adapted to his new environment, rather than keeping him in kindergarden with the poor teacher he now has. Helene will go to kindergarden next September in Belgium, and we started to experiment. So today is her first morning in kindergarden. We used the fact that Michael has one week school holidays and we put him in Belgium with Helene. So they will be both in the same classroom this morning. She is very entousiastic, she really wants to go to school, to also have friends. She will be 3 in June. We'll have a second opportunity on June 9-11 because Michael's school organises a 3 day school trip and he doesn't join. So we'll put him those 3 days in Helene's school and this time they will be in different classrooms. A third and last opportunity will be on June 23 when Luxembourg will celebrate its national day. So they will again go both to school in Belgium. Next September he will a 1st grader, while she will go to kindergarden in Belgium on a more regular basis. Michael's behavior recently improved as he seems to become a bit more mature. We hope primary school will help with this but we also fear that it will stress him a lot in Sept-Oct. David
