New York State Joins CJD Aware's! 'National Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Awareness Week' Campaign

(PRLEAP.COM) The state of New York has just joined CJD Aware's! National CJD Awareness Week campaign with a signed CJD proclamation from Governor Pataki designating November 12-18, 2006 as 'National Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Awareness Week' in the state of New York. With the addition of New York, CJD Aware! has reached the half-way mark in their continuing goal of obtaining CJD proclamations from all 50 states.

"We're very pleased to add New York to our growing list of states who have joined our 'National CJD Awareness Week' campaign," remarked Christy Brom, Director and Founder of the non-profit, information organization based in New Orleans.

"CJD Aware! wishes to thank Senator John J. Flanagan's office, especially John W. Conklin (Legislative Director) for their assistance to us in obtaining this signed CJD proclamation from Governor Pataki," added Ms. Brom. "Our goal is to obtain CJD proclamations from all 50-states and we're half-way there. We couldn't be more pleased with these results and as always, we want to thank our many volunteers and supporters for all of the hard work they put into this on-going project." CJD Aware! currently has CJD proclamations from the following states: Arkansas, Alabama, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Vermont, Washington State, Wisconsin and a formal letter of recognition was received from the Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger. As their National CJD Awareness Week campaign progresses, CJD Aware! has launched a special 'Remembrance Page' on their website where they are currently compiling names of individuals who have died from Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.

"We have invited individuals who have lost a loved-one to Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease to email our office with that person's name, date of death, and the state where they died," commented Ms. Brom. "We will post this information on our 'Remembrance Page' when we observe 'National Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Awareness Week' this coming November."

CJD Aware! continues to be a 'beacon of light' in the dark and mysterious world of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease for families affected by this infectious disease.
