FSA 05/12/03 AGENDA ITEM 6, 8 DECEMBER 2005 'INFORM' MUSLIM COMMUNITY 'possible risk of BSE in sheep' snip... (MUSLIM COMMUNITY) MUSLIM ORGANISATION WORKING GROUP The Agency has set up the Muslim Organisation Working Group to represent the views of Muslim consumers in relation to food. Religious requirements affect how food is prepared and consumed. The working group provides an excellent two-way conduit for the Agency to hear the views and concerns of the community and to ensure messages are received by a community that may not always have access to the more traditional communication channels. (MUSLIM COMMUNITY) BSE in SHEEP and GOATS Meetings were arranged with representatives from the Muslim, Asian and Afro- Caribbean communities to inform them of the possible risk of BSE in sheep and goats. (Meetings were arranged with Muslim scholars, Imams and community leaders from the Asian and Afro-Caribbean community, who played a key role in informing the rest of their communities about the risks of eating mutton and older goat meat). http://www.food.gov.uk/multimedia/pdfs/fsa051203.pdf
