You should look into cranio sacral therapy (cst for your neck/back...it's an energy type of body work. Unlike how it sounds, it's very gentle. Jennifer (the ibclc that used to post here) recommended it for my newborn and I saw a difference after the first time. As for building up your supply, it's simple really, your body will make your baby (or pump) demands. How do you know that you're not making enough? It's normal for a baby this age to nurse frequently, every 1-2 hours or so. Also at about 6 weeks, your baby will go through a growth spurt and will seem like he's nursing constantly, but this is how he increases your supply and it wont be long before your body adjusts and you start making what he needs. If it is truly a supply issue, It may take some time, but with stimulation, you can build it back up. Frequent stimulation is necassary. If you can let baby nurse & get as much as he can, and then pump. Instead of using bottles (which could create nipple confusion between bottle & breast, and then make it even more difficult to get your baby to nurse) use a 'supplemental nursing system'. It's a little tube that you hook to your nipple. Baby gets different milk (whether it be pumped bm or formula if needed) and your breasts get the stimulation they need. Ask your lactation consultant about this. Here's some info that might be helpful... hope that helps Reply To This Post Return to Posts Index VegSource Home
