I'm not sure if Jennifer will respond or not, she hasn't been posting the last few months. Kind of a small world though, I'm in Utah also. I had problems nursing my daughter about 2 1/2 years ago and she also referred me to Susan Johnson. We talked several times. Because of the support I received from her and Jennifer is quite possibly the reason I'm still nursing my daughter today...I never thought we'd make it this long. I'm sorry that your first one was such a horrible experience...I know exactly how you feel! We dealt with my daughters eating problems for a long time...she's finally starting to come out of it.
As for your question, I've honestly never heard of the newborn crawling to bf...I think it's called 'Self Attachment'. I did some searches on the internet and I'm amazed. I had no idea that could be done. I learn something new everyday. Here's the few websites that I saw, maybe it's something different than you've read?? (maybe not) Hopefully you find what you're looking for and your midwife (and the hospital) will be supportive.
