A great place to find ready-to-wear historical clothing at great prices. Outfits are made of high-quality fabric with detailing that Needle in a Haystack is known for and many of the ready made items shown here are one-of-a-kind. Garments are made to standard pattern sizes and labeled XS (3-4), S (5-6), M (7-8), L (10-12), and XL (14-16). A description of each garment with finished measurements is included. Customizing is not available except when noted. Some of the outfits include an 18” doll’s outfit and will be sold with the girl’s dress. When noted, a doll’s outfit is available, but isn’t made yet, so please ask if you are interested in one. New garments, styles, colors, and sizes will be offered as each current outfit finds a new home. ~Native American War Shirt and Leggings for Boys~

Lots of fringe on this native American outfit in soft suede cloth that looks and feels just like buckskin! War shirt is slightly oversized and is trimmed over each shoulder and down each sleeve with decorative thunderbird braid and fringe. The v neck opening is covered with a fringed flap and trim. Leggings are trimmed with the same braid and fringe along the length of the outside of each leg and have an elasticized waist. Size XS (size 3-4). Finished measurements: chest 27”, shirt length (including fringe) 19”, legging length from waist to hem 24.” $64 for the set

~Native American Pouch Dress Set~

This lovely native American dress is a loose shift style with mid-calf length hem and three-quarter length sleeves made of soft doe-colored suede cloth and trimmed with lots of red braid and fringe. Bodice braid forms a “v” in front and back bordered with fringe. A long suede lace with one red bead adorns the front neckline. Back neck opening has a suede lacing tie. Walking slits on each side are bordered with more braid and hem is finished with braid and fringe. Included is a braid trimmed belt, braid and fringe trimmed pouch with lacing and wood clasp, and a set of wood and ribbon hair ties. Size XL (size 14-16). Finished measurements: chest 40,” belt waist 27-28” adjustable,” full back length excluding fringe 42.” Please keep in mind that this should fit loosely. $64 for the set.

Pouch Dress set for Kaya (or any other 18 inch doll) is also available and includes the same four pieces with identical detailing. Back velcro closure. $26

~Native American Bead Dress~

A lovely native American bead dress made from a fawn-colored suede cloth with a nap that feels real. Dress is shift style with a wide trim that looks like delicate beadwork in shades of blue, cream, and burgandy and bordered on the bottom with fringe. Long strips of suede cloth threaded with turquoise-colored beads also decorates the front. Sleeve edges and hemline are trimmed with fringe. Back neck opening has a suede lacing tie. Suede cloth belt is included. Size M (size 7-8). Finished measurements: chest 32,” belt 24,” and full back length including fringe 28.” $52.

~Victorian Tea Dress~

A beautiful tea dress styled after American Girl Samantha’s. Made from crisp white broadcloth, this delicate dress has an eye-catching detailed separate collar trimmed with wide ruffled eyeleting, pink ribbon border, and a rose accent. The main dress has a slightly dropped-waist with a wide ribbon tie. Delicate tucking at the neckline is topped with a neckband trimmed with eyeleting. The full sleeves have cuffs which are also trimmed with eyeleting and pink ribbon. Back button closure. Wide hair ribbon is included. Finshed length from base of neck to hem 30”. Size M (size 7-8). $60

~Victorian Eyelet Lace Nightgown and Sleep Cap Set~

A beautiful nightgown styled after American Girl doll Samantha. This one is made from a white cotton decorated with lots of eyeleting. The floor length gown has a fully lined and beautifully detailed bodice with rows of dainty eyelet threaded with pink ribbon and ribbon bows. Long full sleeves with elasticized wrists, gently ruffled neckline of eyeleting, eyelet sleeve caps, and back button closure. Size L (size 10-12). Finished back length 50.” Included is a sweet sleep cap in white with the same eyeleting and pink ribbon trim with chin tie. $50 for the set

~Prairie Sunbonnets~

Bonnets have full gathered caps, firm brims, gathered backs with neck sun guards, and matching fabric ties. None of my bonnets have exposed elastic at neckline which can pinch and pull hair, but nicely enclosed elastic in matching fabric casings making the bonnets as neat inside as out. All bonnets pictured are available, just let me know the color. Fits heads up to 22.” $10 each.

~Gathered Pioneer Dress, Smock, Prairie Sunbonnet Set~

A lovely fall outfit for your Little House fan. Dress is a gathered style in chocolate brown with a floral field of tiny peach and yellow flowers. Dress has a fully lined bodice with back button closure, long sleeves, and two rows of growth strips near hemline. Neckline and wrists are edged with cream eyeleting and bow trim. Included with the set is a cream muslin smock with back button closure and two front pockets. A matching prairie sunbonnet is also included. Size L (size10-12). Finished measurements: chest 36,” waist 24,” back length 13,” skirt length from natural waist to hem 24.” This style of dress is designed to fit loosely and was hemmed to mid-calf length. $68 for the set. ~Buttoned Pioneer Dress, Pinafore, and Prairie Sunbonnet Set~

Another lovely fall outfit for your Little House fan in caramel brown with small dark brown flowers. Dress is a button style with rounded collar and long full sleeves. Included with the set is a dark brown pinafore with back ties and two front pockets. A matching prairie sunbonnet is also included. Size S (size 5-6). Finished measurements: chest 27,” waist 24,” back length 12,” skirt length from natural waist to hem 25.” $68 for the set

~Pioneer Dirndl Skirt, Prairie Sunbonnet, and Apron Set~

A very cute pioneer set for those who like the versitility of individual items. Set includes a dirndl skirt with fitted waistband in front and elasticized in back, pink and white gingham sunbonnet, and a white apron with decorative eyelet inset. Size L (size 10-12). Finished measurements for the skirt: waist 24” (I will adjust this if you need the waist slightly larger or smaller), skirt length 29.” $35 for the set

~Mob Caps~

Colonial Mob Caps made from two layers of soft white broadcloth gathered with a band of elastic between the layers for a neat hem and no exposed elastic to pull hair. Shown with a blue bows, but whatever color satin bow you would like will be added. 4 available. These are also great for sleep caps. Will fit heads up to 22”. $10 each

~Simple Calico Day Dress Set~

This is a complete colonial outfit. Set includes a simple calico day dress in a forest green calico with tiny pink and blue flowers. The white stomacher is made from eyeleting with pink bows decorating the front. Sleeves have contrasting ruffles with eyelet trim and ribbon bows. Included with the set is a matching tear drop handbag, white round eared cap with pink ribbon, and hair ribbon. Size M (size 7-8). Finished measurements: chest 28,” waist 24,” back length 12,” skirt length from natural waist to hem 29.” $60 for the set.

~Elegant Calico Day Dress Set and Doll’s Set~

A complete colonial outfit for both girl and 18” doll. Set includes an elegant calico day dress with white background dotted with delicate blue and pink flowers. The stomacher is white eyeleting criss-crossed and bordered with blue ribbon with small pearl buttons. Sleeves have contrasting ruffles with eyelet trim, ribbon border, and ribbon bows. Included with the set is a matching handbag, white mob cap with blue ribbon bow, and hair ribbon. The 18” doll’s set is identical to the girl’s set in every detail and includes the same items. ~Civil War Era Dress and Snood Set~

A beautiful red Civil War era dress with lots of detailing made from a soft cotton calico in red with tiny white floral pattern. The contrasting front, sleeves, and collar are from a white cotton printed with a delicate cream color leaf pattern. Full double skirt trimmed with ribbon on both hemlines. Ribbon and cluny lace line sleeve edges as well as contrasting front and back. Collar is trimmed with contrasting black piping. A delicate row of small half-circle black buttons adorn the front. Back button closure. A crocheted snood is included with the set. Size S (size 5-6). Finished measurements: chest 27,” waist 25,” back length 11,” skirt length from natural waist to hem 20.” Doll’s outfit available. $72 for the girl’s set

A little bit about me: I’m a mom, grandmom, and homeschool teacher as well as a professional seamstress with years and years of experience. I enjoy sewing and am meticulous about finishing, detailing, and special touches on each and every outfit I make.

Just a note: I will not be able to take special orders at this time. I hope to be able to offer my full line of historical clothing soon. I will be offering ready made American Girl doll clothes in the very near future.
