In this case, i do not know if you have a back yard or a front yard but if you do you, first put the collar on her with the leash around the house and give her a treat while putting the collar on do not say anything about going for a walk or do not give her affection just the treat while you are putting the collar on her (i suggest a high quality treat like canned chicken they go crazy for it) while your getting ready for work once you are done getting ready, take a hold onto the leash and open the door to the outside yard. and tell her with a firm voice "ITS TIME FOR A WALK" DO NOT YELL! lead her outside with the treat and give it to her once outside. now that she is comfortable and is wandering around the yard where she feels safe, lead her to outside of the yerd and give another treat. Dogs need to work for there food and by doing what you want they get a reward for it. once you are outisde in the open let her get used to her surroundings be next to her and look at her tail. if her tail is between her legs then she is scared. So grab her tail and place it in an upward position ( dogs with a tail in the upward position are showing a sense of pride and assertiveness). keep putting the tail in an upward positon. Now that she knows and smells her surrounding she will begin to walk timidly. this is fine until she gets used to walking. Most dog owners with these similar problems must be patient with their timid dogs, this paticular behavior is a strong behavior and owners must be patient. Make the walk seem like its reward time for your dog not a nightmare. Give her plenty of treats even if she is just sitting there. Eventually a dog will need to release her energy and will want to walk outside. Be patient with her and calm. DO NOT GET FRUSTRATED! your dog will get plenty of work once she is comfortable. Each case is different and patience is a must. Imagine yourself as an abused dog in a new surrouding not knowing what might happen to you. this is how your dog feels and until she understands that walk time is time to be herself then she will always be a timid dog. Be Positive they can sense it.While you are outside do not dance around or call her name a million times just say come or walk assertively and things will begin to happen.
