Okay well I basically have the same problem, and I don't agree with not using it on puppies. Some dogs just dont listen and they need to be trained properly. I know K-9 trainers who have used choke collars on german shepard puppies who are now wonderful dogs and dont even need the chokers anymore. Well thats besides the point. I have a German Shepard mix who i about 4.5-5 months old. We've been using the choker collar for over a month now, and sometimes she just gets into those moods where she will JUST NOT BUDGE. I've tried what you said, dragging her whether she goes or not and just keep walking. What she does is she jumps up and puts her paws on the leash so that I can not pull her anymore. When I try to get the leash from her she snarls and barks and it scares everyone around on the street. I feel so horrible when I walk her and the people around her look at me in fear. So we told the vet and he said to try a HEAD COLLAR. OK so i get this thing yesterday and she did it pretty good last night. She only slipped out of it once, but I had it attatched to another collar incase this would happen. But today, FORGET ABOUT IT! she will not move with that thing on, she HATES it. She jumps up, snarks, barks, yelps... and I don't know what to do; she just wont stop even if I try to drag her. So then I switched it to the choker so I could just walk her. Half way up the block she decides she doesn't like that either and snarls HORRIBLE and yelps and barks and about three people crossed the street. I tried to make her sit but she just stood up on her two back feet, with her two front paws on the choker. I had to RUN with her back to my house in order for her to walk. I don't know what it is, some days shes just fine and somedays she isn't. I mean I'd think it would be okay for once in a blue moon, but just because she decides she doesn't want to walk doesn't mean I can give in. IM the alpha here, but she just won't listen. please help ! Sincerely,Desperately needs help.
